The original line-up of iconic 1980s British pop group Culture Club, fronted by trailblazing soul singer Boy George, will play in the Hunter Valley on December 10th at Hope Estate.
Culture Club is best known for their international hits Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, Karma Chameleon, Time (Clock of the Heart), It’s A Miracle, I’ll Tumble 4 Ya and Church Of The Poisoned Mind.
Culture Club will perform with extra percussionists, keyboard players, backing singers and a horn section and are enlisting some of their favourite 1980s Aussie acts to open for them. These include: Kids In The Kitchen (Tasmania, Hunter Valley) Pseudo Echo (Tasmania, Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley, Melbourne) Real Life (Tasmania, Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley, Melbourne) 1927 (Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley, Melbourne) Kids in The Kitchen (Hunter Valley) Wa Wa Nee (Hunter Valley, Melbourne) Eurogliders (Melbourne).
The group has sold more than 100 million singles and more than 50 million albums since its debut album, Kissing to Be Clever, catapulted them from small London club shows to headlining concerts in arenas around the world.
The band released a new single, More Than Silence, in November 2014 — their first single since 1999 — and have recorded a new album, Tribes.
The tour will feature the original line-up: singer Boy George, guitarist/keyboardist Roy Hay, bassist Mikey Craig and drummer Jon Moss.
